Welcome to my author’s website. Boy, that sounds pretty pretentious. I really don’t consider myself an “author.” Hemingway, Steinbeck, Proust, Evanovitch—now those are all great authors. Did you see me slip Janet Evanovitch in there? Honestly, I like to read her and authors like Sue Grafton much more than I do the literary giants. I like to laugh out loud when I’m reading, or get sucked into a good whodunnit. I guess I’m just a commoner when it comes to my taste in reading materials. And I’m fine with that.
But first and foremost, I consider myself a mom. It is truly the hardest job I’ve ever had and I often feel as if I would get some “unsatisfactory” performance reviews if my kids were allowed to issue such things. Fortunately for me (and many parents out there), such things do not exist. All I can do is hope that one day (most likely far, far off into the future) my children will appreciate my parenting efforts.
I’m also a writer. My first published book is Bank of Allowance Givers: Raising Financially Savvy Children. I used my experience as a mom (and an attorney) to write this book to teach my children money basics. This is an area that seems to be woefully lacking in schools today. And using their own allowance money to teach them the importance of saving and the cost of credit purchases really seems to make the lessons stick.
